Blueberry Cloud Smoothie
For so long, I’ve tried to keep the recipes that I place on my recipe blog at a higher level of creativity, because to be honest I love being different than the rest of the food bloggers out there. And let’s be real, as a professional chef I just can’t help myself! Yes, of course this has helped me stand out, but the down side is that occasionally my recipes are a bit more complicated and require extra time and effort. I think the more time and effort you put into something, the more you can appreciate it, which is usually always true. On the other hand, going a more simpler route can also be very rewarding, especially if we have really busy lives and the race starts from the moment we wake up. Periodically we just need a quick snack or smoothie to get us on our way out the door to fulfill the more complicated tasks later on.
This is why I have created this series called “Simple Staples”. To simplify our morning routine so we can accomplish more throughout the day and have more time later on to enjoy the things we love like spending dinner around the table with friends and family.
I love this smoothie because it is packed with antioxidants from the frozen blueberries, (extra credit if you use wild blueberries), clean plant protein and healthy fats from the trifecta of superfoods seeds (hemp, chia, flax), and probiotics from the coconut yogurt. Enjoying this smoothie in the morning is a great way to wake up the digestive tract because its loaded with fiber and don’t forget the electrolytes from the coconut water too. All in all, it’s a wake up call that our gut + brain connection needs to jump start the day. So here’s to starting your morning off on the right foot. Cheers!❤️

Makes about 2 (160z) smoothies:
The Goods:
2 cups frozen blueberries
1 frozen banana
1 scoop vanilla protein powder (I love the four stigmatic vanilla)
3 tbsp flax, hemp, chia seed meal (1 tbsp of each***)
1/2 cup unsweetened coconut yogurt + extra for the glasses
1 1/2 cup coconut water
1/2 cucumber, sliced
The Method:
Simply, add all the ingredients into a large high powered blender, and blend on high for 60 seconds. Set aside.
Grab two (16oz) glasses and use a spoon with a dollop of coconut yogurt to gently make little “clouds” around the inside of the glasses. Pour your smoothie evenly into both glasses.
Garnish with a few extra frozen blueberries, cucumber slice, and a metal smoothie straw. Serve immediately while everything is super cold. Enjoy first thing in the morning to get your day started on the right track!
